Tour Itinerary


Day 1 - FLIGHT TO DUBLIN

Day 2 - DUBLIN ARRIVAL & HIGHLIGHTS

Land at Dublin Airport, complete customs and immigration formalities before meeting your CIE Tours driver/guide, who will welcome you to Ireland. Upon arrival set off on a leisurely walking tour through central Dublin. Enjoy frequent stops, to sample authentic Irish food prepared in either the traditional or modern culinary style. Visit not only bakeries, delicatessens and food halls but also a plethora of other locations. Next, tour Guinness Storehouse to see exhibits on how this world famous stout was first created and why it is so popular today. Finish your visit in the roof-top bar, where you can sample a draft of Guinness. Then take a guided tour of the Old Jameson Distillery that will give you overview of the company’s heritage and production practices. After your visit, check into your nearby hotel and enjoy some time to settle into you room. This evening, drive to Donnybrook for a traditional Irish dinner at O’Connell’s Restaurant.

Day 3 - WHISKEY MUSEUM & TEELING DISTILLERY

Today, visit the Irish Whiskey Museum, located just across the street from Trinity College. Learn about the history of Irish whiskey and the part it plays in the global whiskey market. Next, visit Teeling Distillery, Dublin’s newest distillery in the heart of the city, and sample the aged whiskey.

The afternoon is free to sightsee and shop in the city.

Tonight, drive to Ballyknocken House, which is located on a

350 acre farm in County Wicklow. Enjoy a cooking demonstration followed by dinner at the home of television chef and food writer, Catherine Fulvio. OVERNIGHT: TRINITY CITY HOTEL, DUBLIN

Day 4 - JERPOINT FARM & KINSALE

Leaving Dublin, travel to a farm in Jerpoint for tea and homemade scones. Also chat with the owners before driving to Midleton, where you will visit the Old Midleton Distillery. While here, learn how whiskey is made as you walk through the old buildings. At the end of your tour, enjoy a sampling of the finished product. From Midleton, drive to Cork and visit the English Market, which first opened in 1788. The market allows consumers to explore and sample a variety of produce from all corners of the globe. Then motor a short distance to Kinsale and check into your hotel. Once you settle into your room, you are free for individual pursuits and dining.

Day 5 - BLARNEY CASTLE

Departing Kinsale, drive to Blarney, where you can climb the battlements of Blarney Castle and kiss the famous “Stone of Eloquence.” Also visit the Blarney Woollen Mills, which has an excellent range of Irish products. You will also have time to browse around the village, charmingly set around a large village green. From Blarney, journey through the rugged countryside to Killarney. Upon arrival,

you will become a Distiller’s Apprentice in a unique Irish Whiskey Experience. After learning about classic whiskey enjoy a sample of the finished product. Then check into your hotel for your overnight stay. This evening, drive to Killeen House, located in Aghadoe Heights with views of Lough Leane and the mountains. This charming little hotel offers a warm welcome and serves wonderful food. OVERNIGHT: LAKE HOTEL, KILLARNEY

Day 6 - DINGLE PENINSULA DRIVE

After breakfast, discover the beauties of the Dingle Penin-sula, once described by the National Geographic Traveler as “the most beautiful place on earth.” Drive along the south shore of the peninsula for plenty of vistas of heathery moun-tains, sandy stretches of beach, stunning green landscapes and rocky headlands. Pause at strategic locations to admire the views and take photos. Along the way, stop to visit the Dingle Brewing Company. While here, learn about the brew-ery’s rich and varied past before sampling a pint of this local lager. Nearby, tour Dingle Distillery a quaint little distillery, which has created a distinctive Irish twist of their own whis-key, gin and vodka.

Return to Killarney for a free evening.

Day 7 - CLIFFS OF MOHER & ENNIS Leaving Killarney, drive to Tarbert and take a short ferry ride across the River Shannon Estuary. Next, drive along the coast of County Clare en route to visit the Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland’s most beloved, natural landmarks. See magical vistas, overlooking the shimmering Atlantic Ocean along with Ireland’s Western coastline. Then drive into the Shannonside Region, where you will stop at the luxurious Dromoland Castle Hotel for afternoon tea. After tea, head to quaint village of Ennis and check into your hotel. Once you settle into you room, you are free to sample the local cuisine.

Day 8 - GALWAY WALK

Departing Ennis, pass through the Burren, an area of rocky limestone hills where a number of unique flowers thrive. This region also contains many dolmens, prehistoric monuments formed by large limestone slabs. Next, join a local guide for a gentle walking tour of Galway. See the medieval city walls, Lynch’s Castle and the narrow streets. Continue towards Kilbeggan so you can visit the Kilbeggan Distillery, which is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in the world. Then drive to Cavan, where you will check into your hotel for your overnight stay. In the evening, join your fellow travelers for dinner followed by an authentic storytelling session with a local Seanachie.

Day 9 - RETURN TO CANADA

Transfer to Dublin Airport to check in for your flight. You may do some last minute shopping before boarding your aircraft and flying across the Atlantic Ocean back to Canada.
